Photography 101 Workshop

Photography 101 Workshop with bonus 1 Hour Guided Nature Tour

Photography 101 Workshop

This 2 hour workshop focuses on learning how to take advantage of the features of your camera and other equipment to maximize your shooting potential.  We will cover topics like camera sensor and shutter operation, the different shooting modes of your camera and how to make important adjustments on the fly as well as drive modes, focus area and other functions and concepts.

We will discuss the foundational principles of photography to get you off of “auto” mode and into manual like the pros and work on understanding how to take a properly exposed picture. Then we will dive into the specifics around ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.

You’ll never get the pictures you want, if you can’t move out of “auto” mode and it is difficult to take good pictures without having a solid understanding of the “Exposure Triangle“.

In this work shop we will work through these aspects so you can understand how ISO, shutter speed and aperture work together to allow professional  photographers to fully take charge of the camera. Knowing how to adjust the settings of the camera when needed helps to get the best out of your camera and push it to its limits to take great photographs.

In the back half of the workshop we will look at composition and focus on helping you go past just taking a picture and move into creating moments that will draw others into your photos. We will discuss balance & symmetry, leading lines and a number of other important thoughts for great composition.  Finally, we will discuss a few advance topics around composition, like the rule of thirds, the golden ratio and Trisec.

After this two hour session, you will leave with a greater understanding of the operation of your camera and a new vision to help you find your individual style.  You’ll leave understanding the foundational principles and have the ability to put them into practice and with practice, you’ll move from snapping photos, to the creation of moments that will impress others.

My goal will be to help you go from snapping pictures of what you merely see, to capturing the beauty in the moment you saw.

This particular class comes with a 1 hour bonus guided field tour to help practice what you’ve learned with an instructor onsite to assist you as you shoot.

Class size range from 4-10 people.

The cost for the workshop is $125 per person.

Private classes can be arranged, at an additional cost.  All class bookings are refundable prior to the date of the class minus $25.00 cancelation fee.
